Prayers would like as many artists from the community to get a chance & opportunity to participate & submit their own "prayer" piece or even if they so choose, contribute work to the Art Benefit Sale we are holding. The entire Event will solely benefit the community, the cause & the artists involved. Entry is Free/ Donations Encouraged. Entry includes participation in the Art & the Music portion of our Benefit Fest. It's about sharing our stories & speaking up together through our collective art pieces; & maintaining an special place of performance & art in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.
This day will feature an Inclusive Community "Prayers" Art Exhibit where EVERYONE is welcome to come out & invest themselves, to contribute their art piece that expresses their prayer, wish, or concern for the world today. To share with each other & in this way take a big step towards healing & cultivating goodness/love/peace together. In this way, we will create our own kind of cultural billboard where if you see, for example with murals, the artist as the teacher, the viewer as the student, the art as the text... with this inclusive prayers exhibit, we are all the artists/teachers, creating our own shared texts & learning from each other in the same kind of way. I believe in this way, we take things a step farther in terms of inclusion, we quiet the ego, we bring each other in closer to our miniature expressions of love.
LA Artist Margaret Garcia's "Prayers" concept is absolutely inspiring & beautiful. Once you read up & learn more of this event, you will feel the same way & inspired to participate. Thank for your time delving into this special day & event. Our Manifesto
DIMENSIONS:
Inclusive Prayers Community Exhibitors: participants please limit your miniature art pieces to mini sizes, for example about the size of a closed hand to the size of an open hand. Keep in mind the space & spirit of INCLUSION. Art Departments, Humanities Departments, & Non-Profits who have students & participating youth, please, also feel free to contact Nataasja for pickup of art work to be hung & included. Our goal is to give as many of our young artists & artists within our community a chance to participate with their "prayer" pieces. Any medium will be accepted, ie., paintings, drawings, photography, glass work, metal work...
We are providing a space & place for our local artists, many of them perhaps among your very own circles, classrooms, departments, & workplaces. Students/ Community members can choose to create a miniature "prayer" art piece & come down to the Event to hang it. Or you may submit your pieces in advance to Casa0101 directly.
We are happy for the participation & chance to allow as many local artists to participate as possible, even if they are unable to do so in person. Or, if they are there in person supporting the spirit of the Event, the cause & movement, they may take their art piece home with them after the Event.
SCHOOLS:
We are able to pickup any art pieces submitted to any departments/ classrooms & return them at the end of the Event.
What is most important at this juncture is to SPREAD THE WORD. To let as many people as possible know of our Event. Esp. the youth. We would love our young & local artists to get inspired & to get involved. To feel they all have voices & something to share & they can do it here, together. Much of our outreach thus far has involved local nonprofits, high schools, local community colleges, local businesses, & local news rags/ publications, online or printed. Our goal is to eventually reach a worldwide audience of participants. To have folks all over the world within their own local communities come together & hang their prayers/ concerns/ wishes for the world on their own walls & share with each other at least one day out of the year. We are starting small, within our own community in LA, first.
I am excited for any interest in this Event especially by young artists & artists of the Community; Especially by people who have the power to reach & inform others within the Community. We are so deeply grateful to anyone who will help us spread the word. Involvement is power. Participation is key. If there is any other way you think you can help us or support this special, magical, & loving Event, please feel open to speak with me & share your ideas. Your ideas are most welcome! Contact Us
